algae?

Have a south/central American cichlid tank and thinking of adding some algae. Seen some algae "balls" and what not in the pet store. I know algae is beneficial but I was wondering »»»»»»> (insert stupid question) will it be possible if I have an algae eater/pleco? Is there a way to.make it work???

Different algae eaters eat different algaes. I would not trust a SAE with a marimo ball, but various plecos would probably be ok, although larger varieties might not work as well.
