This Guy belongs to a friend who recently inherited him with a tank. She says his tail is kids of a greenish yellow. I am stumpef

That's an Eclipse Catfish I have one and they're a pretty cool fish.

what size tank is this fish in? Eclipse catfish get to be over a foot.

Most reach 8 inches. They can get up to 18 in the wild but it's very rare for them to break 12 inches in captivity. Mine grew really fast and slowed down at around 5 inches. They can be kept in a 55 for life but make sure they have a log or cave to hide in.

I read that if well fed and in a large enough tank they can reach 18". Most die before they can get that big because of inadequate space, feeding, or water conditions.

From what I've seen and from my experience with this fish they only get that big in the wild. MOST stay around 8 inches. Mine is in a 150 and is only 5 inches.

yep i have those their eclipse cats, they dont grow very fast you should be fine!
