Can I put a magfloat that has been in an established aquarium for months be used to help start up a hospital tank?

Of course you can, but it won't help start up a hospital tank.. It cleans off algae, not collect bacteria.

If you are wanting to start up a hospital tank, just get some filter media from the established filter and add it to the filter on the hospital tank. But, when there are no fish in there, remove the hospital filter to the main tank to keep it cycled until the next fish come for treatment.

I think he is asking if there is enough BB on the mag float to cycle the new tank.

Yep, that's how I understood it. It certainly won't hurt, but it's not going to produce any results comparable to a filter, or something very porous.
