Bringing home a tank tomorrow that we just bought. Turns out it may have cyanobacteria/blue green algae. It may nor may not be cycled and there are fish in it 8 tetras and a pleco. The tank itself is 75 gallons.
I am thinking that if the tank is not cycled clean and/or trash everything and replace.
But the fish? Is it easier to just treat the tank (and the fish) with Maracyn?
cycle the tank with fish in (but 8 tetras and a pleco in a 75 gallon doesn't seem to be a bioload)
Fishelss cycle and keep those guys in a no frills 10 gallon tank for as long as it takes?
Try to use my sons almost fish less cycled 20 gallon tank that can go from 4ppm ammonia to .5 in a day.
What is best since there are fish in this tank? If it is cycled I assume just clean and cross fingers?
This is more than I bargained for but quite a deal so I am willing to do the work. I have read articles on the blue/green algae but it doesn't say much about the fish.
Thanks
