Cycling with raw shrimp?

im in the process of a fishless cycle. make sure you take out the shrimp (if theres any left) between ammonia levels 4.0-8.0

otherwise you'll just be overdoing it with the ammonia, like me...
 
Something I opted to do as well: float the shrimp in a plastic bag with holes in near your filter output, or keep it in some kind of object (like a plantpot) you can readily remove. Trust me, just dropping a prawn in and then having to get it out afterwards mostly decayed is not the most pleasant of tasks! :p
 
If you can get hold of some pure ammonia then that would be a quicker way of cycling. You then don't have to wait for the shrimp to decay and start procuding ammonia where as you instantly have ammonia if you use....... ammonia lol
