Do all LFSs do this?

Our LFS has this policy where they sell livebearers only in pairs, so you can't select more than one female to any male you buy. The only exception are the "three for $XXX" specials where you can luck out and get two females and a male.

I kind of understand why, because otherwise they will have a tank full of males they can't sell, but has anyone else had their store tell them this?
 
No, not all shops do that.

My LFS will price some fish differently by sex, though (guppies, for example).
 
I've seen it at small shops and it honestly makes me not want to buy from them. I want the number of fish I want lol.
