How often should I rinse my filter pads and change carbon?

Just when they look nasty. You don't even really need carbon imo I would just replace it with Bio media. Don't rinse your sponges in tap water or you will kill the bb. Just swish it in old tank water when it needs it.

Also, sometimes it takes a little while to get answers on here. There are only a few minutes between your two posts, but somebody will always get to your post.

I keep mbuna, and have a ten with a betta and some endlers

Some people do it every water change. Some like me only do it when I really notice the flow slowing down

I try to rinse it in dirty tank water every time I do a water change, but I usually forget. Then it comes to when the flow is slowing down.

Nice! I have endlers, rummy nose, platies that sort of thing.

Yes it's difficult to judge as I have two running

I really like rummynoses. I also really like endlers

I was a little worried as a lot of people said rummy nose were hard to keep but luckily they are doing great.

Yeah endlers are nice, I find them easier to keep than guppies

.......and IMO endlers look cooler than guppies too......and they are smaller, so you can keep more of them than you could guppies.
