How often should I rinse my filter pads and change carbon?

Just when they look nasty. You don't even really need carbon imo I would just replace it with Bio media. Don't rinse your sponges in tap water or you will kill the bb. Just swish it in old tank water when it needs it.

Also, sometimes it takes a little while to get answers on here. There are only a few minutes between your two posts, but somebody will always get to your post. :)

Yeah that's what I do but never sure how often

I try to rinse it in dirty tank water every time I do a water change, but I usually forget. Then it comes to when the flow is slowing down.

Nice! I have endlers, rummy nose, platies that sort of thing.

Yes it's difficult to judge as I have two running

I was a little worried as a lot of people said rummy nose were hard to keep but luckily they are doing great.

Yeah endlers are nice, I find them easier to keep than guppies
