I want to put my goldfish in my ten gallon tank so he will hopefully eat my little piggyback snails. My tank is empty (my last mollie just died) and its a slightly brackish environment. How much salt is ok for goldfish? Thanks.

I don't think goldfish like salt. If the snails are the only things in the tank and you want to get rid of them with putting the goldfish in there just do like a 90%+ water change and a couple days later add the goldfish.

Goldfish can handle salt very well in smaller amounts. For treating diseases such as costia it is common to use up to .9% salt for short periods, however anything over .3% is very stressful to them.
