Last week I used a sponge to remove all the algae on the glass. Now this week I seem to have an algae boom in the water. From the front view, the water seems fine, but looking at the side view (4ft) I can definitely not see pass the other glass.

My parameters seem to be fine. Ammonia: 0 nitrite: 0 nitrate: 5ppm.

My lights are on about 8 hours a day. It is not in direct sunlight either. I am now covering my tank with a blanket to keep it pitch black.

What else should I be doing to prevent this? I also did a 50%pwc this morning.
