New and need help

Hi I am new to this site and new to owning a tropical 4th fish tank, I bought from someone who previous had it I have owned it now for 2 weeks and have 22 fish in it but I am getting a really bad smell from the water. Can anyone help me please.

what size tank do you have and have you done any water changes? Also have you tested the water?

The tank is 4ft long and I done a water test and everything was fine. No water changes yet.

I would change part of the water, and rinse the filter media in old tank water. I would also do a 1/2 gravel vacuum today, and the other half the day after tomorrow.

What are your water parameters? Has the tank cycled?
