new guy pump questions

I want to put my pump lower than my aquarium. Is this a good thing to do? I will buy one-way valves. I was wondering about a under gravel filter and a regular filter can you run them both? I have two pumps.

Just run the airline a couple feet above the tank and then into the tank so it won't syphon back..I don't trust check valves when comes to electricity and water alone ...
You can run more then one filter on a tank.
Few people use undergravel anymore..
