With Plecos, always go small variety. The standard small Pleco which is always mentioned is the Bristlenose. There are numerous fancy types of Plecos that stay small, but they are usually expensive. My Gold Nugget and two Dull Eyed Royals cost me $25 each, when they were just an inch long. Stay away from the common Pleco. It grows too big.
Bristlenose (Ancistrus) plecos are great for cleaning algae off the glass and pretty much anything else in the tank. They're also a bit more visible than the Hypancistrus species. Normal brown and albino are very common, super reds are usually available online, check out aquabid.com if you can't find fish locally.
