Pleco growth rate?

How quickly does the common Pleco grow? And will it survive on algae alone or does it need to be supplemented with sinking pellets/wafers?

I think that mine has grown about an inch in a couple of months. I feed wafers every night after dark.

Yes, please supplement it with Algae wafers after the lights are off since the #1 problem with these beautiful fish is that they usually die of starvation. Eventhough they do eat the algae in the tank, you need to supplemenet it with some Hikari Algae wafers at night & once a month, you can feed them Zuccini in a veggie clip.

Also, it all depends the form of pleco that you have which can tell the rate in which they grow. I had one almost a foot long.
