Common pleco and spotted pleco are two names for the same fish. so yes you have a common pleco.

No plecos are so common and they get so big everyone thinks they will just re-home them when they get bigger and nobody wants them. You are lucky if a LFS takes it for free. I have seen large ones selling at LFs for $15-$20
