Praecox Rainbow Temperatures

I'm a bit confused why the listed temperature for the Praecox Rainbow
(Melanotaenia praecox) on liveaquaria.com is 64-72*F. The majority of other Rainbow fish species are listed as up to 77*F.

My tank stays around 80*F, which the rest of the fish like. Is this too warm for the Rainbows?

Thanks!

All depends on your source I guess.

http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/334.htm
and
http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/prof...oxrainbow.html
and
http://www.aquaria.info/modules.php?...&name=database

all list it as 72-82*F

Hope it helps.

Just happened to see a presentation on Rainbows, at our society meeting last night. Your temps sound perfect for rainbows, according to the presenter.

Thank you all for your help. I guess the majority of people say Rainbows are happy with 80* Temps.
