sexing gold fish

we have 4 goldfish in a 50gal aquarium....different breeds was wondering if there is an easy way to determine the sex of these fish...no digital camera so if pics are needed will have to get some developed...thanks

Its tough, sometimes you can barely see a difference. I wasn't positive until mine started egg laying. The website listed above was a big help. The vent pertruding was a big sign on mine.

thank you both....i have read some more and they seem hard to breed...not really wanting goldfish babies right now so this will work fine for me...thanks again

Oh if you don't want babies, don't worry, my goldfish starts eating her eggs immediately after laying them, I suppose it's probably hard to breed them partly because you have to get to removing the eggs before they get them.
