Had a piece of driftwood I got off eBay that came from Tennessee river. I boiled it for an hour Friday and a bunch of tannins came out. Changed the water Sunday and the wood was completely soaked thru and more tannins came out. Tonight the wood feels totally soaked thru and it sinks right to bottom and no tannins leached out into bucket. Never had a piece soak this fast and leech no tannins by the 3rd day, there's no way it can be done…can it?

All depends on the kind of wood and just how lucky you are. I would leave it in a bucket for a bit longer to make sure :)

No idea on the wood wish I did, all the info I got was from TN river
