Has anyone ever used Soap Stone in a tank? Was it safe? Is there a way to tell if it is tank safe?

Thanks guys!

You can try the vinegar test:

Drop some vinegar on the rock. If it bubbles up, you don't want to use it in your tank. If it doesn't chances are it is not going to cause significant alteration to your tank's pH.

I'd skip it .. Soap stone is rich in talc with other minerals like chlorite which I wouldn't want in an aquarium. Go with either Granite, Slate and or Quartz stones. All there of those are chemically inert in an aquarium setting.
