Coming into hurricane season and being a new aquarium owner i am looking for advice on how to prepare my tank for power outages and such. What extra equipment helps?

Backup generators are obviously ideal, but battery powered air pumps with lines going into the tank AND the filter are workable options as well. Filter bacteria needs oxygen to survive, so having the air line going into the filter helps prevent mini-cycles caused by bacteria die offs. The line into the tank obviously helps with gas exchange and water movement.

There are other niceties you can hook up to run off batteries such as the heater or lights (if you have plants), but the air pump is really the key one.

Ok thank u.
