I'm getting my 55 gallon tank set back up and I want to stock it as a cichlid tank. I'm looking for suggestions on what cichlids would do well together. I have a naturally high ph (around 8) and was thinking maybe electric yellow labs and something else to add contrast. Any suggestions? Is it possible to keep only males together to avoid breeding or do they need a certain male/female ratio to be happy?

I love yellow labs, Afra cobue, yellowtail acei, srt hongi, and maingano. Most of them goes well together. Acei may need a longer tank.

Would demasoni do ok with yellow labs? Any stocking recommendations are far as how many I should keep in a 55 gallon?

re:

I really like the Peacock Cichlids. The Sunshine Yellow and Rubin Red are very pretty fish. There are also other varieties of Peacock Cichlids that look awesome as well.
