Suicide betta

Ok I purchased 2 bettas the other day for my tank it's pretty big for a betta tank and it's divided Otto keeps slipping through the divider to Olaf but doesn't flare his gills or anything just swims around! Olaf on the other had gets mad and flares! I woke up this morning and what do you know Otto was on olafs side! I freaked out and put him back on his side! That divider is crap! He is so sweet though I think he just wants company! Would it be OK to add a female for Otto and tank olaf out? I have never in my life had a sweet betta before so this is a first

How big is the tank? Is there a lid?

I wouldn't add a female without a divider. Bettas really dot crave company--they are a solitary fish. If you feel you must get something, get a snail.

As for the divider, there are plenty of DIY ones that work perfectly. Look them up on google or youtube. Cheap and easy way to keep everyone separated.
