Can gold gouriums and red tailed sharks live together?

How big is the tank ? One shark will probably be ok, but though Gouramis are semi agressive with each other, with other aggressive fish they can be quite timid. So the shark may end up pushing the Gouramis around. Gourami also prefer a well planted tank.

They'd need at least a 50G tank when grown.

I have a red tail and a gold gourami together in a 50 gal. Community tank. Shark doesn't bother the gourami at all, he's too busy chasing the tiger barbs.

We only have a 20 gal right now. We made the mistake of asking the people in the store what goes together and then looking them up and they don't fit at all. I have one left . So when I move in April were getting at least a 65 gal. So I'm just doing the research myself to see what we can put in there an my boyfriend loves the the red tailed....so do I
