What do I do about this stuff?

I have patches of this growing white and dark brown stuff growing in my tank. It is rough. What is it and how do I get rid of it? It is making my tank look gross. :/

Can't really tell from the pics...is it on the glass?
Have you tried an algae scraper (either manual or with magnets)?

Yea it's on the glass. I have tried a scrubber. But the white cloud stays.

Get a new dish sponge and use the abrasive side to scrub it. That may help
