What fish in 20G long with betta?

I have a 20 gallon long aquarium with a male betta and four young platies. Any suggestions on what to add? The gravel is rocky so ill be adding ghost shrimp (instead of corydoras).

Welcome to AA! How young are the platies? It all depends on the temperament of your betta. It may also eat the shrimp too. Sorry for the negative news. But you may have a peaceful betta, who knows.

You could try to add some neon tetras if your betta is fine with the platies.

He's fairly calm. He has been housed with shrimp before.

Neon tetras and some harlequin or emerald eye rasboras could work. Don't add long finned fish like guppies.
