Try looking at google images of fissidens, it's a pretty common moss with several species in the US.

Thanks. I am not sure which one it is... There is a ton of it near my house. I put the portion I had in my tank to see if it is aquatic.

It's not. Up close you can see that it looks more like flame moss. Peat moss has more of a star pattern. But thanks for the opinion.

Did you quarantine or rinse it with hydrogen peroxide before putting in your tank? Carefull when putting stuff in your tank.
