is it possible that my API marine aquarium test kit is EXPIRED!!???!!!

I have tried to do an ammonia test in my cycling tank, a few times now, 1 test tube stays clear the other is cloudy!!!!

I AM DOING RIGHT, EXACTLY LIKE DIRECTIONS SAY!

Does this mean I have No ammonia, or something is wrong with the kit?????

It is testing PH, Nitrates, and nitrites Fine....

you don't use 2 tubes to test ammonia (with api) 8 drops of solution 1, 8 drops of solution 2. invert tube to make sure it mixes well, then let sit for 5 minutes. directions are pretty helpful !!! lol, jk

they give you 4 test tubes that way you can test them all at the same time.

yeah, if you're using two separate test tubes with only one solution each, you're doing it wrong.

As far as telling if your test kit is expired, it should have a lot number on the each bottle. This tells you when it was manufactured (month and year)... they're good for 3 years

This is if they are sealed and unopened :p
After opening they generally last 6 mo to one year :D
