will adding crushed coral/dead coral bring the PH up passed desired levels?

Generally speaking, it will bring it up, but not past desired levels.

Crushed coral has no affect on buffering the pH in a saltwater system. For the crushed coral to start to dissolve and do any buffering the pH in the tank has to be around 7.3 or lower. That is virtually impossible in a saltwater system.
