As far as I know the fish don't need and certain type of lighting. If you are going to add corals into the mix that's when you need the more powerful lighting. What size tank do you have? I have a 29
gal with the odyssea advance plus fixture. It has 1 250w hqi metal halide, 4 t5ho and 4
led moonlights I have 1 purple plus 1 blue plus is the actinic bulb and 2 of the 10000k whites all bulbs I bought seperate are manufactured by ati. The best bulbs I have found so far. Depending on the size of your tank though you might not be able to get that size of a fixture ontop of it.
