I am placing 2 maxi-jet 1200's in my 55 gallon FOWLR for flow. Since i do not want it to be creating bubbles in the tank which is the best way to install these pumps? Do i even bother attaching the air hose, or should i just plug the hole. The instructions that came with the Maxi-Jet didnt help me very much. Can anyone give me advice on how these should be put together. and maybe i'm just stupid. Thanks

Plug the holes, there's no need to use the airline.
Put one in each back corner and face them towards the front center so the streams cross.. this will create a nice chaotic pattern. I'd also position them close to the top so they will cause some surface agitation.

maxi-jets should come with a small plastic plug to close the airline feed.

why even use that venturi piece at all ??

You don't need to plug anything if you situate the pump so that the hole where that hose would go is well underwater.

I have 2 in my 55. One blowing across the back and the other towards the front. Works good for me !
