Starting 55 saltwater

Starting to setup my 1st saltwater tank. It's a 55 gal that I had as a freshwater tank. Should I use live sand or could I use regular sand? I am new to this but I am dedicated. When setting it up I plan on getting some live rock for it, can I let it cycle with that?

You can go with dry sand and base rock it will all become li e over a period of time. When all is set up use a table shrimp for the cycle.
