Will a 75 gallon tank satisfy area/space requirements for two comet goldfish and a common pleco? If it depends on the shape, suggestions are welcome. From what I've heard, water quality problems can be cleared up with good filtration and water changing habits.

The problem isn't so much water quality as yes if you do the water changes you can keep it clean. The problem is a comet and a common pleco, both, will reach 18" or so with the pleco reaching longer than that. Now imagine them trying to turn around in an 18" wide tank.
