HELLO I BOUGHT a 90 gallon set up with the stand for salt or fresh water for $$300   (y) :thanks: yes I sold it from the guy.. but seriously they just had their first child and we'll things had to go....anyway. It came with an ehiem 2217, emperor 400 and a Tetra FS3060 Power Filter, along with two skimmers: 1 for fresh water (eheim surface skimmer 3535) and the other (a cpr dble bak pak). and a lot of other things. im going freshwater so the bak Pak is not going in....OR Should it??. :brows: do I need to run all three of these filters? I am running them at the moment buttttt seems like overkill? and do I need to use the ehiem surface skimmer? I put 6 cichlid in the tank.

Keep the Eheim and Emperor, lose the Tetra and there's no need for a skimmer. Now, the surface skimmer is up to you. Sometimes an oily residue appears on the water's surface and so that skimmer may prove useful.
