I have a 36 gallon fully cycled tank with 6 zebra danio. Because we have a water softner in the house our water is very soft (almost 0). My LFS has recommended bypassing the water softner when doing water changes to bring up the hardness closer to their level before adding more fish. My question is if I bypass the water softner how much water is safe to change and how often so I can bring up the hardness without shocking the fish.

How much is some and will that change the water hardness to quickly for the fish that are already in the tank?

Ok so is that 25% daily or small changes that add up to 25% by the end of the week?

Daily. Even every 2-3 days would be fine. It would just take longer to replace the old water sources water with the new water sources water.
