Air pump

I just purchased a 55 gallon tank and I am going to be using for Louisville 70 filter. Do I need an air pump to circulate water as well?

I am not familiar with the Louisville 70 filter. I assume that filter is a Hang-on-Back? It should be fine by itself. If your tank is fish-only, aeration is definitely a plus. If you have both plants and fish, I would only aerate at night.
