betta tank questions

Ok I'm building a upside down beta tank. How much of a lip do I need to keep the betta from jumping. The bottom tank is only going to be about 6" high and the water level 5" high will a 1" lip keep him in there?

I could go about 7 " high with the 5" water level but I think it won't look good with that high of a lip

this tank doesn't sound big enough for a betta! how much water does it hold? bettas are suppose to have at least 2.5g of water! and to answer your question bettas sometimes will jump but others won't so to be on the safe side you should get a lid..
