I'm just starting out and I'm biding time during a fishless cycle. I've been seeing all of these tanks with a very pure yellow light in them. Is there an article or resource for me to find something out about how to achieve that whiter (less blue/purple) light and the pluses and minuses to them.

It probably depends on the type of light and bulbs. What light do you have on the tank now?

It's an Aqueon Full Spectrum "day light" 17W 120v "florescent tube" style bulb.
