I just added 3 new mollies to my tank and for the first day or so they were schooling but now they have separated. Is this normal?

Also, is it normal for them to be eating off the bottom? It seems like they are picking through the gravel for food? A little lost

Yes that is normal.
At first they were insecure in their new environment and stayed close together, but now they have gotten used to their new home.

Mollies are not schooling fish, and yes they will eat from bottom of tank.
