My neighbor gave my his unwanted 65 gal acrylic. I have only done new setups, and I have no idea how to restart a running aquarium. How do I clean it up to prevent his tank bringing disease into my house and other tanks. I am going to over filter with a marineland magnum 350. It has had a Cumberland slider and a bluegill sunfish living in it for about 3 years... I am wanting to get rid of them and turn it into a tropical tank. Please help

If your getting rod of the stock then just break it all down and give it a good cleaning. Vinegar and water solution and clean everything. Re fill it make sure there's no leaks and all is good then empty it.

Check for any type of stress cracks etc. you don't bring disease into your "house" but I make it a common practice to NOT use the same equipment for my tanks. Each one has there own net, tools, and yes... I even have separate water changers.
