Aquarium Advice Newbie
Ok, so tonight we noticed what may be the beginning of HITH(Hole-in-the-Head) on our C. Moori. He has 2 small ulcer-like pits on his head. On closer inspection, we saw small black spots on 4-5 of the other fish in the tank. Another oddity is that about a week ago we began noticing black spots on our Java Fern, but dismissed it as normal Algae growth.
We test water religiously every weekend(sometimes more) and do weekly water changes. All our water parameters are perfect. Temp rides at a steady 80 degrees. All the fish are acting normal. Active, healthy appetites, great color, etc. We have not added any new fish in 2 weeks.
After researching on the web, it looks like the mostly likely diagnosis for the spots may be Flukes. We decided to medicate the tank with API's General Cure anti-parasitic medication that we had on hand. This covers treatment for HITH, Anchor Worm, Velvet, Fish Lice, and Gill and Skin Flukes.
So, are we on the right track? Has anyone had experience with Flukes? Or with black spots suddenly appearing on their fish?
We appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Thanks.
