I have just noticed an abscess in one of my Platinum tetras!
It is on the top of its head, between its eyes.
It looks like it has bumped into something!! It is pink in colour and has lifted its scales.
Any ideas regarding what it is and possible treatment.
No other fish in the tank seem at this point affected.

It could just be an injury. One thing to check is water quality: is the tank cycled? Have you checked your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate levels? High toxins in the water can cause burns and can cause some fish to try to jump out of the tank b/c they are being burned by the toxins. When is the last time you did a water change? If you're sure it isn't water quality (ammonia, etc) then I'd do extra water changes to keep the water very clean and see if it heals on its own. If it starts to look infected maybe some meds would help but I'm not sure which ones as I'm not that familiar with fish diseases or injury (knock on wood). Can you post a picture?
