It is sodium thiosulfate or at least contains it . It is a sulphur based product.
You think prime is bad whiff of the SAFE powder ! Same Sulphur smell concentrated...

Dude.. you havnt smelled the recent batch.. I finished my safe jar and grabbed a bottle of prime in a pinch. Almost like they store that with fine wine in a basement??

They didn't have Seachem Prime way back when I had multi aquariums and when I set this one up I didn't smell anything when adding drops. I always used Tetra Safe Start. For some reason I decided to take the lid off and smell it and WOW I though omg maybe it's rotten and thats why my tank wouldn't cycle. LOL Day-um!

My sons room is located near the fishroom. When I mix up a batch of SAFE, He leave very quickly.
Mmmm smells so good that think I'll change my screen name to i_sniff _prime [emoji23], I have read many articles about people refusing to use it because of the smell which is baffling to me because it's like literally a must have lol.

I wonder if it gets "bad" and thats what causes that smell. It dosent stink until towards the end of the bottle.
