I cannot figure out how one of my female guppies developed a split fin over the weekend. When I left on Saturday morning, she was fine. Now she has a split on the upper part of her tail fin.

My first thought was fin rot, but none of the fish (2 female guppies and two hatchet fish) show any signs of it.

I did a partial water change before I left and just did another tonight. Water parameters were pristine when I left, and all the fish have been getting on fine.

Despite the split fin, she appears to be swimming, eating, and socializing just fine.

Any ideas? Should I be concerned?

Maybe one of the other guppies nipped at her fin? Or she got it stuck on décor. Either way I wouldn't worry about it. Fins grow back, and itll re-attach to the other part and grow back together.

If it does turn out to be fin rot or anything let us know!
