Black sphereical thingy, egg?

Hmm, I'm still not sure where my red footed snail is hiding on my new LR shipment, but I have another question:

What is it? An egg? A jelly bean? Too early to tell?
 
bubble algae. It can be a nuisance. Just don't pop it if you remove it. I left mine alone and it died out on it's own.
 
What you are seeing is in fact Valonia (Valonia spp.) commonly called bubble algae.

Order Siphonocladales
Family Valoniaceae
Genus Valonia

Mithrax crabs will in fact consume this type of algae. .
