Florida goby

Caught a few of these guys while looking for sea horses. I know they are gobies but not sure which kind.

I'll take a closer look when I can get at my papers at work tomorrow, but Gobiosoma robustum looks a fair bet.

I gather you caught it locally, in which case I would go with G. robustum (as you had suspected). There are very similar species farther to the east, but these are difficult to identify without examination of head pores and fin-ray counts.

Yes I did catch it locally, and I looked at a few pictures it looks like them.
