A couple of these have been growing in my tank for a couple of months, but this one just recently grew really fast. At first I thought it looked cool and thought maybe it was a coral, but it has grown a lot since then. Anybody have an idea of what this thing is?

I believe it is a type of soft coralline algea, I have a few small pieces that I recently noticed in my tank. I don't think they can harm anything, it's just a matter of aesthics. You either like where it grew and the way it looks, or not. Mine is the same color, I've also seen pics of a purple type. Reminds me of kelp.

Thanks! Yeah, I talked to my lfs and they told me the same thing. He said it is like a type of seaweed or kelp. Thank again.

I've had similar looking macros pop up in my tanks, and when I asked about it here they were identified as Predaea. Beautiful, aren't they! :)
