I've had this live rock in my tank since the beginning (early January), but up until last weekend, I only had damsels in the tank, so nothing really happened with it.

But now that I have some different fish and a crew in there, the live rock is going through all kinds of changes! It's always had the purple color to it, but it's turned an aqua green color in places where the snails have been. Is it just because the snails have cleaned it up?

Also, I'm not sure what the little orange spikes are...does anyone know? Those have actually been there for a while, but they have gotten bigger since I added the new family.

Thanks!

sounds like your algae grazers are just doing thier job. As for the orange growth, it's really hard to tell from the photo. Could be sponge, could be coral, could be hydroids. I'm gonna toss out a guess that it may be a type of filamented type of algae. Just a guess though.
