+1 on corynactis. They are not considered pest nems like aiptasia/mojano, alot of people keep them, it wont cause you any problems. Just depends if you like it or not!

if it is a new growth how long roughly till it gets color

They don't change color as far as I know. They are not photosynthetic and tend to hide in the shadows.
