Do you have a tripod? I got one and my photos have been 100x better since - I drink way too much coffee to take steady shots otherwise. Just put the camera on it, set the self-timer for 3 seconds, and shoot.

You can get them very cheap, or even get "mini-tripods" that can rest on a table, Velcro to tree limbs, etc.

EDIT: Also, if you really want to shoot with a flash, consider putting a sheet or two of white paper over it to diffuse that light a bit and not end up with such glare off the glass. Personally I would not bother with flash...

EDIT2: Tank looks great though.

To be honest I normally don't like the mix of sw decor with fw fish but this is actually pretty good.
