Here are photos if my festivus. They change colors and my lfs said he has never seen this. He said it might mean it is stressed when the brown shows up. They seem to be fine though.

iv never seen one of those before! did they have many where u got it? amazing colours!

Yes they had about a dozen. I'm wondering if they are the same as a flag cichlid. I found photos of the fish in two different books. 1 was a festivus, and 1 said flag cichlid.

they are the same thing i think, (or closely related) judging by research! they are gorgeous.

Are the festivus very zippy? Fast moving? My Lfs has them with discus and a label that says very good with discus . I thought about getting some for my discus tank but I don't trust the lfs

Nope, not zippy at all. They pretty much act like severums. They meet me at the tank every time i walk up to it.

They would eat all day if I'd let them! They associate me with food.
