Considering 180 Gallon tank Build

Hi All
I'm thinking about building 180 gal tank and have a couple questions that i hope you can help me with. The first is does Starphire glass really make a that big of a difference to justify the cost? If i did my calculations correctly the thickness of the glass should be 1/2 inch, does this sound correct? If anyone has a 180 is it possible to measure the thickness and let me know?

It depends on the dimensions of the tank. The general rule is 1/4" of thickness per 12" of height. So your 180 would probably be 96"Lx18"Wx24"H or 72'Lx24"Wx24"H either way 1/2" would be alright.
